Monthly Pass Groupon:Congratulations on purchasing your Monthly Pass and Introductory Climbing lesson through Groupon! This groupon is for new Crux Climbing and Bouldering customers only. Please read the FAQs below on how your purchase works.
Book a Lesson
For new Crux Climbing and Bouldering climbers, the Crux "Intro to Climbing" lesson can be booked for the following times:
Effective May 1st 2013: If you book your lesson and cannot attend, you must cancel you spot with 24hrs notice. If you do not cancel, you can still re-book, but your monthly pass will start on the orignal lesson date.
Monthly passes start the day after your first lesson (e.g., for a Lesson on March 20th the month pass would be valid from March 21 to April 21). Gear rentals are not included and can be arranged with desk staff per visit.
What if I am an existing Crux customer and i bought this "New Crux Customer" groupon?Wow, you must love climbing at the Crux and we love you too! Unfortunately, this Group is exclusively for people who have not yet had the pleasure of trying the gym and meeting all our great customers like you. What we can offer is to put the dollars you spent on this deal towards any of our great Crux Climbing and Bouldering pass options or clothing inventory.
What to BringDo I need to bring my Groupon?
Yes! You must present a printed copy of your groupon (including the transaction number) on your initial visit. Printed copies will be retained by the gym for record purposes. No electronic copies of the groupon will be accepted.
Do I need a Waiver?
Yes! Every participant must have a signed waiver. There will be no exceptions made. No waiver, no climb.
If you are 18 years or older (with proof of age available upon request), simply print a waiver from HERE, fill it out, sign it, and bring it with you. If you are under 18, your waiver must be signed by a parent or legal guardian.
What is a belay test?
The belay test is a test administered by a Crux Staff member to ensure a patron meets our "Safe Belay technique" standards of practice. This test need only be administered one time if the patron is successful in demonstrating the required technique (we retain the right to retest at any time for any reason). The test encompasses all the things that were covered in your Introduction to Climbing Course: harness fitting, knots, belay technique, communication, and safety checks. You do not need to book an appointment for a top rope belay test. Top Rope Belay tests are free at The Crux!
What if I fail my belay test?
We'll slot you into the next available Introduction to Climbing Course for a refresher and continued supervised practice. After two consecutive classes the Crux reserves the right to charge unsuccessful belay test participants for further lessons.
Equipment and ClothingCan I rent equipment?
Yes! Please see HERE for pricing details on rental equipment.
Can I get the same deal over the desk at the gym?
No! This was an online offer only. The Crux will not (and is obligated not to) extend the same offer over the desk. No exceptions.
A note about children:
Alberta regulations state that children must be 12 years of age or older to belay in our facility without instructor supervision. This means that a child younger than 12 can learn how to belay (as an instructor is present), but they have to be 12 to belay by themselves after they've learned. Children of any age can climb however: we've had a 3 year old get to the top of our 60ft wall. We have both adult and infant harnesses available.
Belay only pricing: If a parent is entering the facility to belay for a child/children, and they're not actively participating in climbing, we do not charge for the parent to be a belay slave. Any equipment rentals and children's day pass fees (as applicable) will be assessed at normal pricing.
